Glutamate synthase 1
WebJan 30, 2024 · Glutamate synthase (GOGAT) is a key enzyme in glutamine synthetase (GS)/GOGAT cycle and at the hub of carbon and nitrogen metabolism, catalyzing the formation of glutamate from α-oxoglutarate and glutamine. In this study, members of GOGAT family in Populus trichocarpa were identified and analyzed by bioinformatics. WebApr 14, 2003 · Using the structure of GltS and the newly determined crystal structure of Synechocystis Fd, the scattering experiments clearly showed that GltS forms an equimolar (1:1) complex with Fd. A fundamental consequence of this result is that two Fd molecules bind consecutively to Fd-GltS to yield the reduced FMN cofactor during catalysis.

Glutamine can be transported in and out of neurons and astrocytes utilizing different … WebThe existence of N-acetylglutamate synthase (NAGS; EC 2.3.1.1), a liver enzyme that catalyzes formation of N-acetylglutamate (NAG) from glutamate and acetyl coenzyme A was inferred after NAG was identified as an essential cofactor necessary for the function of the urea cycle [1,2]. The gene for mammalian NAGS was identified almost 50 years ...
WebIn B. subtilis, glutamate is exclusively synthesized from 2-oxoglutarate and glutamine by the activity of glutamate syn-thase in the absence of exogenous glutamate or other sources of glutamate. 2-Oxoglutarate is replenished in the citric acid cycle, whereas glutamine can be synthesized with ammonium as the Glutamate synthase (also known as Glutamine oxoglutarate aminotransferase) is an enzyme and frequently abbreviated as GOGAT. This enzyme manufactures glutamate from glutamine and α-ketoglutarate, and thus along with glutamine synthetase (abbreviated GS) plays a central role in the regulation of nitrogen assimilation in photosynthetic eukaryotes and prokaryotes. This is of great importance as primary productivity in many marine environments is regulated by the avail…

Centrifuge the homogenate for 7 min at 500 g to remove unbroken cells and cell fragments.
WebN-acetylglutamate synthase deficiency is a disorder that causes abnormally high levels of ammonia to accumulate in the blood. Ammonia, which is formed when proteins are broken down in the body, is toxic if the levels become too high. The brain is especially sensitive to the effects of excess ammonia. The signs and symptoms of N-acetylglutamate ...
